Active screen plasma nitriding with a large-diameter cage and its nitrding mechanism
Active screen plasma niriding (ASPN) is a novel plasma nitriding technology that offers many advantages over the conventional dc plasma nitriding (DCPN). In this work, a large-diameter cage was used in the ASPN researches. The experiment results showed that the components away from the cage beyond 70 mm can only be nitrided by means of the negative bias on the components and the negative bias must be greater than a threshold value. Based on the experimental results and the early researches, a more convincing AS plasma nitriding model has been proposed.
