Hydro-plasma nitriding of steels: thermo-chemical treatment in hydrostatic glow-discharged plasma
The technology of hydro-plasma nitriding consisting in surface saturation of steels in low-temperature hydrostatic glow-discharged plasma generated in nitrogen containing liquid electrolyte is developed. The technology can be efficiently applied for strengthening of small machine parts made from carbon steels or alloyed steels of different classes: pearlitic, martensite, austenitic, etc. It can be recommended, in particularly, for forming of wear and corrosion resistant coatings on items working in corrosive and abrasive conditions (moisture, humor, sand, etc.). Technologies of hardening of steels by the thermo-chemical treatment are also presented, based on nitriding of steels in low-temperature plasma of electrolyte steam combined with surface alloying by diffusion metallization. Processes of strengthening of carbon steels by combined technologies including nitriding, carburizing and diffusion metallization by an alloying element (chromium, aluminum, vanadium, titanium, tungsten, cobalt, nickel, molybdenum, niobium), are considered.
