Characteristic parameters of surface cooling process and boiling curves for quenching process
In order to determine the quantitative data of the surface temperature and surface heat flux of a sample in quenching process, two surface temperatures are selected as benchmarks. Both of the surface temperatures together with the moving speed of demarcation line in the process of cooling are considered as characteristic parameters of surface cooling. After studying the physical nature and affecting factors of these characteristic parameters, the possible applications of these parameters are discussed. From the pool boiling curves in heat transfer theory, two surface temperatures correspondent with the selected characteristic temperatures are found respectively. Then, by referring and modifying pool boiling curve, the basic form of boiling curves for quenching process and determination methods as well as the method of determining the surface heat flux-temperature curve of any part of the surface have been speculated.
