Study on the surface structure and properties of PDMS/PMMA antifouling coatings
PDMS/PMMA copolymers with the PDMS molar contents of 27.5%, 61.7%, 72. 8% and 78% were synthesizes respectively by macromolecule initiation polymerization. The morphologies of the copolymer coatings investigated by AFM demonstrated that all of the copolymers had island shape micro-phase separation structure. Both the size of the separation and RMS value increased with the PDMS content at the beginning and then decreased. The phase separation is less obvious for copolymers with 72.8% and 78% PDMS contents, but will be strengthened after annealing. Water contact angle testing results suggested that surface was hydrophobic. Besides, BSA protein and nitzschia closterium minutissima adsorption experiments results identified that all the PDMS/PMMA copolymers had protein and diatom adsorption resistance performances, and the resistances of copolymer surfaces to protein and diatom adsorption increased after annealing treatment.
