Enabling Translational Medicine through Innovative Research Information System

The Center for Translational Medicine in Taipei Medical University (TMU-CTM) is established in 2009, in order to facilitate the development of translational medicine in Taipei Medical University and the three affiliated hospitals, Its primary goal is to establish an integrated information management platform including unified Electronic Medical record (EMR), Labatory Information Management Systems (LIMSs) and the management systems for clinical pathology, anatomical pathology and other biological specimens. The information management system for tissue sample collection, storage and management and the guidelines for distributions of internal staffs and work flow have been set up. In the future, this integrated system will also combine the generated genomic and proteomic data from the biorepository. This integrated information platform will provide complete and effective management system for good quality of tissue samples, clinical data, and the bioinformatic data analysis results. Since all information is digitalized, it could be shared easily. As more data is reposited into the system, it can assist the research teams in TMU to do the innovative translation medicine researches in biomarker discovery and drug discovery for disease diagnosis and prognosis, and in addition, the risk profiling and the health management for personalized medicine.
