The Heat Transfer Model and Performance Analysis of Fibre-Enhanced Phase Change Material

Energy storage technology plays an important role on energy utilization system. The fibre-enhanced phase change material tightly combines fibre having good heat conduction property with general phase change material (PCM). It can improve the heat conduction performance of general PCM. Several parameters influencing the heat transfer performance of the whole heat storage system are studied here on the basis of heat transfer model in term of enthalpy theory. As results examined, the best approaches of obtaining excellent heat transfer performance of fibre-enhanced PCM are increasing NTU(heat transfer structure factor), the number of radial fibre and reducing B, (a criterion pinpointing the key component). The less efficient ways are increasing the heat conduction coefficient of fibre and the radius of fibre. This work will provide some references to how to optimally design the fibreenhanced phase change heat storage system.
