Effect of Wetland plants growth characteristics on Purifying Wastewater in Constructed Wetland
Phragmites australis and Typha angustifolia were wetland plants widely used in constructed wetlands to purify wastewater, which were studied to investigate the effects of their growth characteristics on purifying wastewater. Results showed that the leaf photosynthetic rate, transpiration rate and SPAD value of wetland plants were different. The leafphotosynthetic rate, transpiration rate, and SPAD value of T. angustifolia were significantly higher than those of P. australis (P <0.05). The evapotranspiration loss was also significantly higher in T. angustifoliatreatment than in P. australis treatment(P<0.05). The removal efficiency of CODMn, NH4 +-N, NO3 --N, TN and TP were high in T. angustifolia treatment than in P.australis treatment, and the removal efficiency of CODMn, NH4 +-N and TN were significantly different between T.angustifolia treatment and P. australis treatment(P<0.05).Wetland plants with higher photosynthetic rate, transpiration rate and SPAD value have the higher removal of efficiency of CODMn, NH4 +-N and TN.
