An HIV Model with Antiviral Immune Response and Antiretroviral Therapy
We present an HIV model incorporating antiviral immune response and antiretroviral therapy. The basic reproduction number is obtained to ensure the stability of the healthy steady states, and one critical condition is observed for the existence of the infected steady state. Qualitative analysis of the model such as the global asymptotic stability of the healthy steady state is shown by constructing a Lyapunov function. The local asymptotic stability of the infected steady state is also provided. We then discuss the effect of varying combination drug efficacy on model behavior numerically. Furthermore, we investigate the negative or positive correlation between CTL responsiveness, T-cells, viral load, and CTLs count.
