Pathogen coexistence induced by the general form of contact rate and vertical transmission
In this paper, the epidemic model with general form of contact rate and vertical transmission is studied. The disease-free equilibrium of the model system are found and their stability is investigated. The stability of equilibria is derived through the use of Lyapunov stability theory and LaSalle’s invariant set theorem. It is shown that competitive exclusion principle holds and the coexistence of pathogens is possible under a certain condition. Numerical simulations are provided to illustrate the theoretical results.
