Decolorization of Polar Brilliant Red B by Laccase
Acid dyes are extensively used in dyeing protein fabrics particularly wool and the used dyes are lost in the effluents. This paper aims to apply of the laccase on the decolorization of Polar Brilliant Red B. The influences of temperature, pH, enzyme concentration and different additives on decolorization of Polar Brilliant Red B were analyzed. The kinetics of decolorization was determined. The results indicated that the optimum decolorization conditions were temperature 60 oC, pH 5.5, the enzyme concentration of 0.2 g/L. The maximum color removal of laccase was about 95.5%.The results of the effect of additives on decolorization showed that the decolorization was inhibited by the addition of PO43-, CO32-, Fe2+, Fe3+ and surfactant peregal O.
