Application of an Optimized GM (1,1) Model for Forecasting Financial Investments to Science and Technology

Being able to forecast time series accurately has been quite a popular subject for researchers both in the past and at present. Although the grey forecasting model has been successfully adopted in various fields, literatures show its performance still could be enhanced. The aim of this paper is to advance the prediction accuracy of GM (1,1) model. For this purpose, this work modifies the algorithm of GM (1,1) model to enhance its tendency catching ability. Compared with some other modified algorithms of GM (1, 1) model, the novel algorithm can effectively obtain optimized initial condition of GM (1,1) model. We utilize a case study to test the efficiency and accuracy of the novel optimized GM (1, 1) model. As shown in simulation results, the proposed model can increase the prediction accuracy.
