NONLINEAR OPTICAL CONSTANTS OF SUPERIONIC CONDUCTING GLASSES-ANALYSIS BY THE BGO MODEL
385 Superionic conducting glasses exhibit high values of nonlinear optical (NLO) constants. With the objective to investigate the origin of this behavior, the NLO constants of superionic glasses (AgX)x-(Ag2O.B2O3)1-x (X=Cl, Br, I) have been investigated by using the BGO (Boling-Glass-Owyoung) model, which has been used successfully in the analysis of nonlinear refractive indexes of silicate and chalcogenide glasses. The result of the analysis indicates that the BGO model underestimate the values of NLO constants of superionic glasses. The origin of the deviation has been interpreted by using the concepts provided by the bond fluctuation model of superionic conductors.
