Isolation and Identification of a Bioactive Bacterium from Marine Sediments
Strain PSB-01, a bioactive marine photosynthetic bacterium, was isolated from marine sediments of the Bohai Sea Area.Cells are ovoid to short rod-shaped, 0.3-0.5 μm in diameter, and 1.0-1.5 μm in length.Multiply by binary fission, gram-negative and contain internal photosynthetic membrane systems in which the photosynthetic pigments bacteriochlorophyll a and carotenoids are located.Researches on antibacterial bioactivity and physiologicalbiochemical characteristics have been done. The 16S rDNA complete sequence has been submitted to the GenBank and the accession number is EU910275.According to the phylogenetic analysis, the strain PSB-01 was phylogenetically closed to Rhodobium marinium.
