An Automatic Instrument for Brachial and Ankle Systolic Pressure Measurement Using Photoplethysmography
The ankle-brachial blood pressure index (ABI), which is defined as a ratio of the ankle systolic pressure (ASP) and the brachial systolic pressure (BSP), has been considered an a valid maker for cardiovascular disease (CVD). The manual measurement of the brachial and the ankle systolic pressure is not convenient for population test. An automatic instrument to measure the BSP and the ASP using the photoplethysmography (PPG) is provided, the output of which can be used to calculate the value of the ABI. An experiment to valid the instrument was carried out. And the results are presented.
