Anti-inflammatory Activity of Salvianic acid A through the Inhibition of Nuclear Factor-κB Activation in Peritoneal Macrophage
In the present study, we examined the anti-inflammatory properties of Salvianic acid A (SAA) in peritoneal macrophage induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS). SAA inhibited the production of nitric oxide (NO), tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and interleukin-6 (IL-6) in LPS-induced peritoneal macrophages and blocked protein expressions of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9). In addition, the LPS-induced nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB) activation was suppressed by SAA treatment.
