Destruction of Toluene by dc Corona Discharge Reactor with Ultra-Thin Razor-to-Plate Type Electrode
Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) pollution has critical effect on the environment and public health, and toluene is one of the typical gaseous toxics. In this paper we studied to use a razors-to-plate type dc corona plasma reactor to destroy toluene waste gas. Toluene decomposition experiments demonstrated this kind of reactor was effective in production of plasma and reduction of toluene. When the concentration of toluene is 50ppm/100ppm, toluene removal rate reached 96%/87%, respectively; and the corresponding energy yields were about 1.6/2.5 g·(kWh)-1 (toluene).
