Air Pollutants and Its Transport Characteristics of Multi-cities in Central Xinjiang, China
Statistic analyses were made based on the daily air pollution index data at five cities in Xinjiang of northwest of China from January 2005 to October 2008.Trajectory model (HYSPLIT4.8) was used to analysis the backward and forward trajectories on heavy air pollution days during winter of 2006. The results presented as following. 1) Winter is the season with the highest occurrence frequency of air pollution events (8.7) while air quality was relatively better in summer. 2) Principal pollutants (PP) for five cities were PM10 and the second PP only for Urumqi was SO2 with annual occurrence percentage of 79.2% and 20.8%, respectively. 3) The correlation coefficients of API between Urumqi and Miquan, Miquan and Fukang were higher above 0.7. 4) The backward and forward trajectory analysis indicated that the air masses leading to heavy polluted events partially come from Urumqi and Miquan city.
