Performance and mechanism of poly-ferric sulfate for phosphorus removal in drinking water treatment
The performance and mechanism of poly-ferric sulfate (PFS) coagulant for phosphorus removal in drinking water treatment was researched. The test showed that the proportion of particulate phosphorus to total phosphorus was about 60% in Zhuan river in Beijing. Coagulation experimental result showed that the more poly-ferric sulfate coagulant dosage was added in raw water, the better effect of phosphorus removal was obtained. The phosphorus removal efficiency was up to the highest with PFS dosage added at 40mg/L, and the color was down to the lowest with dosage added at 30 mg/L. Under the condition of pH 3.5~7, the best result was obtained for phosphorus removal, and the effect changed to worse when pH was beyond this scale.
