REACTIVITY AND GASIFICATION KINETICS OF SEMI-COKE FROM PYROLYSIS OF BIOMASS BY MICROWAVE HEATING

In this study, a semi-coke was obtained via pyrolysis of biomass(pine wood) by microwave heating. The gasification reactivity of the semi-coke was investigated and compared with that of the semi-coke from pyrolysis by conventional heating by a thermal analyzer utilizing carbon dioxide as a gasifying agent. The results indicate that the former is more reactive at the same gasification conditions. In addition, the effects of eight inorganic additives NaOH,Na2CO3,Na2SiO3,NaCl,TiO2, HZSM-5, H3PO4 and Fe2(SO4)3) on reactivity of the semi-coke from pyrolysis of microwave heating were investigated. NaOH,Na2CO3,NaCl, Fe2(SO4)3) have made the semi-coke gasify more quickly. The other additives, however, have made gasification completion time longer more or less as compared to gasification of the bare sample. Gasification kinetics of the semi-coke from pyrolysis of biomass by microwave heating were also preliminarily studied by employing homogeneous reaction model and shrinking unreacted core model.
