Investigation in Community Inter-movement and Influencing Factors of the Aged Couples in Urban Areas--Based on a Questionnaire Survey of 245 aged persons in Yantai
Despite the amounting interest in the elderly, and a rapidly expanding literature on the subject, there is a dearth of empirical research that can shed light on their condition. This paper bases on a survey data on 245 aged persons living conditions of Yantai and seeks to describe the conditions and the characters of urban aged couples community inter-movement. The objective is to elaborate what and how the influencing factors affect their community inter-movement. Results show that the proportion of the urban older couples in China is high in terms of their participation in low-level activities of survival type, but low in the high-level activities of entertainment and enjoyment type. The main factors affecting their participation are self qualities, family background and social environment, Among which the communication between husband and wife, the friends they have in common, the contacts with their relatives and their health situation have noticeable effect on the community inter-movement. And the traditional culture played an important role as well.
