A Virtual Research Institute and Its Utilization in CAE for Worm Gear Drives and Gear Design Optimisation
As part of the research supported by the EuropeanUnions Asia-Link and Asia IT&C programmes, aVirtual Research Institute (VRI) for geographicallydispersed research teams, universities and industrialpartners to collaborate over the Internet is developed. In addition to virtual communication, online teachingfacilities and a software bank, the VRI also includes aplatform for online collaboration. In this paper, anoverview of the VRI is given first, and then thedevelopment of the online collaboration platform ispresented and further illustrated by its utilization inCAE for worm gear drives and online remote executionof a large size gear design optimization package.
