Towards Multi-Granular Versioning Support for Collaborative Design Applications
Version control functionality has played animportant role in the development of a variety ofapplication areas including software development, computer aided design, and the authoring process. While version control technology has proven useful inthese areas, its use to date has mainly been to supportasynchronous development. There is a lot morepotential in the technology, however, particularly in thearea of supporting the development of applications thatinvolve synchronous development activities. Throughan expansion of existing version control functionality toinclude support for finer-grained objects, the potentialof the technology can begin to be explored, and inparticular its suitability for the support of thedevelopment of synchronous collaboration facilities canbe studied.
