Image-based Chinese Seal Carving Generation with Non-parametric Sampling

This paper presents a system for automaticallygenerating Chinese seal carving works of desired style.By learning a training set of seal examples of the samestyle, the system can generate new seal carvings similarto this style through non-parametric sampling. UsingK-nearest neighbor algorithm, stroke branches areinterpolated to produce output strokes by linearcombination. Each stroke branch is rendered bydragging a circular brush mask along the sweep of theBspline which is presented with nonuniformly spacedinterpolated points. We introduced a new samplingmethod, non-uniform sampling with constraintthrough hierarchical subdivision, to get interpolatedpoints. The algorithm is simple and comprehensible ingeometry. Experimental results show that this approachcan obtain satisfying new articles of the desired styles.
