A Collaborative Development Support Environment for Complicated Product
The development processes of complicated products,such as aero-engines, are across time, organizations anddisciplines in multiple engineering teams, whiletraditional coordination approaches and collaborativework tools are the bottleneck in streamlining this kind ofprocesses in manufacturing enterprises. In this paper, aCollaborative Development Support Environment (CDSE)for complicated products is presented to enable engineersinvolved in the product development project to cooperateefficiently. The cooperation patterns in collaborativeproduct development are concluded, and a referencemodel for the CDSE is put forward, which can describethe information, resources, activities, and applications incollaborative product development processes and depicttheir hierarchical relationship. This reference model haspartially implemented by our research group and canoffer a powerful and flexible environment for productdevelopment on the lnternet by several membercompanies.
