Model and Implementation of CSCW System for AEC Design
The informatization in AEC (ArchitecturalEngineering Construction) design has addressed acritical need for CSCW. In the paper, we explore itscharacteristics and demand and propose a logicalmodel.The model ct as the key for solving the problemssuch as controlling cooperation, managing dataresource, modeling version, propagating change and soon. By employing the technologies of computer network,CAD, data warehouse and multimedia, we also developa prototype system named TH-CSCDP whichdemonstrates the concepts we mentioned. It has beenadopted by several main institutes of architecture andengineering design in China to act as a main practicalplatform for AEC remote collaborate design. Theplatform also has the capability to organizeproject-related resource, which include humanity andfiles. Our system encourages the human resources reactby message, email, conversation and virtual workspacewhich used as a substitution of face to face negotiation.To manage file resource, this system provides modulesto model and manage files history so as to understandbetter and reuse them. It has been proved to be amade-to-order system for CSCW of AEC design.
