A Multi-Agent Prototype System for Medical Diagnosis
Coordination and negotiation among agents arenecessary when multiple agents are motivated to makea diagnosis for a patient together. In this paper a model of a multi-agent diagnosishelping system(MADHS)is given,where severalkhowledge-based systems are considered ascooperative agents in medical diagnoses.Fuzzinessand uncertainty have been incorporated into decisiontrees to form the reasoning mechanism of agents.Anovel coordination mechanism is then described,which is able to reach the final diagnosis compatiblewith both patients anamnesis and existing medicalprinciples.The model and reasoning mechanisms areimplemented using Java,Java Agent DevelopmentFramework(JADE),Java Expert System Shell(JESS)and NRC FuzzyJ Toolkit,and is tested by bothtraditional Chinese and western medical diagnosisexamples. It is anticipated that the proposed system andtechnologies will be widely used in applicative areas,such as multi-agent medical diagnosis,medicalhelping,and other automatic diagnosis and decision-making systems.
