PRECISION Rh-Fe THERMOMETERS OF CHINESE PRODUCTION: PRELIMINARY RESULTS IN THE RANGE 2.5–30 K

Following the practical impossibility to obtain new precision Rh-0.5%Fe thermometers in the last years, the possible re-starting of the production of such type of thermometers in Yunnan (China) was explored by INRIM.Ten prototypes of the new production were made available in early 2006. The paper is reporting the preliminary data about the testing so far performed on these prototypes at NIM and INTiBS. Though a problem was detected about the alloy composition, the reproducibility results on thermal cycling are very encouraging, when compared with the equivalent thermometers formerly available from Tinsley and VNIIFTRI. The R-T characteristics below 30 K, though not identical to the old commercial batches, is making them anyway suitable for accurate metrology.
