AN 18 HEAT-DRIVEN THERMOACOUSTIC CRYOCOOLER
A unique coupling device is introduced in a thermoacoustically driven two-stage pulse tube cooler. With the coupling device, the cooler can obtain pressure wave with higher amplitude than the thermoacoustic heat engine itself; in the meantime, the coupling device with an elastic diaphragm assembly allows the thermoacoustic heat engine to use nitrogen gas for a low frequency operating. With these innovative measures, the heat-driven thermoacoustic cryocooler reaches a lowest temperature of 18.1K
