FLOW AND HEAT TRANSFER INVESTIGATIONS ON PARAFFIN STABILIZED MATERIAL SLURRY FOR DISTRICT COOLING AND AIR CONDITIONING PROCESS
A two-phase heat transfer fluid, which consists of particles of a stable composite material containing a paraffin concentration close to 75 per cent, dispersed in water is proposed as a potential working fluid for district cooling and air conditioning process. Quantitative results obtained by DSC concerning its thermophysical properties and flow properties are presented. An experimental device is used to place the slurry in a heat transfer condition undergoing a phase change in an agitated bath. History of temperature of PCM particle is recorded for different wall temperature. A phenomenogical approach is proposed to analyse the experimental results which permit to access to the knowledge of the phase change time duration of a particle to the main parameters of the problem. The model appears of interest for the optimisation of a unit of both storage and distribution using such fluid.
