INVESTIGATION OF A NEW AUTOMOTIVE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM WITH A NOVEL INTERNAL HEAT EXCHANGER
Internal heat exchangers are used in many refrigeration and air conditioning systems to exchange energy between the cool refrigerant leaving the evaporator and warm liquid refrigerant exiting the condenser or inside capillary tube. These internal heat exchangers may improve or degrade system performance depending on operating conditions. In this paper, a new automotive air conditioning system with novel internal heat exchanger, accumulator-capillary tube-suction line heat exchanger, is investigated experimentally, and the results are compared with conventional systems with and without liquid line-suction line heat exchanger.Variables investigated including mass flow rate, vapor quality, discharge pressure, compression ratio, cooling capacity, power input, coefficient of performance and discharge temperature. The results show that the new system has better performance.
