NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF THE AIRFLOW OF THE MULTI-BLADES FAN OF AIR-CONDITIONING SYSTEM AND THE OPTIMITION OF THE VOLUTE

The existing and mature CFD technology is applied in this paper. Through the simulation of the prototype fan, we find there are obvious vortexes in the cochlea part of the fan. We adopt two schematic plans to improve the efficiency of the fan, because this vortex can cause high energy consumption. At same time, it increases the noise of the ventilator in the air-conditioning system and affects the efficiency of the fan. The first scheme is to increase the radius of the cochlea. The second scheme is to change the cochlea into tilted. We also have some experiment of the velocity of the outlet of the fan in order to make some comparison.We can find that the unsuitable change of the cochlea radius caused more disorder airflow rather than improve the cochlea vortexes. So we get the conclusion that the key issue is to find the suitable radius of the cochlea in the design of the fan. When we try the design of the tilted cochlea, we get a satisfying outcome.
