EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF SOLAR CHIMNEY FOR NATURAL VENTILATION AND ITS DESIGN METHOD
Based on theory analysis, the model of a vertical roof solar chimney enhancing natural ventilation was experimentally studied. The solar chimney dimensions are 2000mm height and 1000mm length respectively. On condition of heat flux and chimney gap variety, chimney interior temperature field and velocity field are studied. Results show that airflow increased with chimney gap augmentation, the optimum of chimney gap to height can not be found limited to our study scope, and the airflow and air velocity increase as the solar radiant intensity getting stronger, and air velocity decreases with the increase of solar chimney gap. Air temperature and velocity are higher near the heated surfaces than those in the middle chimney. Meanwhile, temperature and velocity boundary layers formed near the heated surface.
