OPTIMAL CONTROL OF A HEAT PUMP SYSTEM USING FUZZY CONTROL AND GENETIC ALGORITHM

The capacity control of a variable speed vapor compression system using superheat information at the compressor discharge was investigated. Fuzzy controller was selected for the modulation of the discharge superheat. System identification based on predefined inputs and outputs was carried out to complete the state-space system model. The type of input signals was pseudo-random binary sequences (PRBS) and the order of system was assumed as 7. To find the optimal fuzzy rule table, genetic algorithm was used as a searching tool. The experiment results showed that the optimized fuzzy controller alleviated undershoot and overshoot in the discharge superheat, outlet temperature of secondary fluid and refrigerant mass flow rate compared to PI controller.
