Cell cycle re-entry relates to neuronal apoptosis after exposure to benzo”a”pvrene in SD rats
As a widely distributed environmental contaminant, B”a”P could cause neuronal cell apoptosis in animal models.Several studies have indicated that cell cycle re-enter plays a major role in neuronal apoptosis.Currently, a study was undertaken to investigate cell cycle re-entry in neuronal apoptosis after exposing to B”a”P in SD rats.Male SD rats were administrated with B”a”P by intraperitoneal injection at different dose (blank, 0, 1.0, 2.5, 6.25 mg/kg bw) for 1, 2, and 3 months.Neuronal apoptotic rate of hippocampus was significantly increased in a dose and time dependent manner. To find the relationship between neuronal apoptosis and cell cycle re-entry, the cyclinD1, CDK4, Rb, pRb-ser 807/811, pRb-ser 780 and E2F1 were measured, which are related with cell cycle re-entry.Rb, pRb-ser 807/811,pRb-ser 780 and E2F1 increased in a dose and time dependent manner in hippocampus, The present results suggest that the cell cycle re-enter relates to neuronal apoptosis following exposure to B”a”P in SD rats, implying that B”a”P may be related to neurodegenerative diseases.
