Highlights of recent progress in automotive sheet steel development
The drive toward improved automotive fuel efficiency and vehicle ”light-weighting” continues unabated,and competition between steel and alternative materials remains intense in the research and engineering communities.In this presentation,the current landscape related to automotive steel developments in North America will be commented on,and selected highlights of recent research studies related to a variety of hot and cold rolled product concepts will be discussed,along with some aspects related to manufacturing and implementation.Next- generation advanced high strength sheet steels will remain a dynamic subject of great interest and opportunity.
